Fields fought professionally out of Oxnard from 1901 to 1913. He died in Camarillo in 1965, and buried in Ventura, CA.

Sam McVey fought several of his first pro fights in Oxnard from 1901 - 1903. Sam McVey was inducted into the International Boxing Hall of Fame in 1999.
