Arturo "Gonzo" Barraza

This is former pro boxer Arturo “Gonzo” Barraza of Oxnard. Barraza turned pro on September 27, 2001 in Anaheim, CA scoring a quick first round knockout. He was one of top-trainer Robert Garcia’s first pro boxers and he proudly represented his neighborhood and gym of the La Colonia section of Eastside Oxnard. Gonzo’s pro boxing career was cut short due to an automobile accident on December 8, 2004 that claimed the life of close friend George De Jesus. Barraza suffered multiple injuries that prevented him to return to the ring. The hard working ex-fighter still resides in Oxnard doing construction work and still loves the sport of boxing.
